Emily Bain is a designer, illustrator, and Master of Design student at Concordia University, specializing in urban design and walkability. Her thesis research focuses on the embodied experience of walking and the role the senses play in defining walkable spaces. The project takes recordings from walking interviews and embeds them into digital map interfaces. The aim is to explore how cartography and related technology shape our understanding of space, and how to better represent sensory information beyond the visual. Consideration is also given to accessibility and neurodiversity, examining how individuals with sensory sensitivities (such as those with ADHD or on the autism spectrum) might experience and navigate space differently.
