Richard G. Newhauser is Professor of English and Medieval Studies, Arizona State University, Tempe. His research is focused on the moral tradition in Western thought, the history of the senses, and Middle English literature. He is the co-editor of Pleasure and Danger in Perception, special issue of The Senses & Society 5.1 (2010), and editor of A Cultural History of the Senses in the Middle Ages (Bloomsbury, 2014). He has contributed articles on the sensory study of Middle English literature and medieval theology to numerous collections of essays and journals, including The Review of English Studies (2013), Handbook of Medieval Culture (2015), and The Five Senses in Medieval and Early Modern Cultures: Literature and Language (2016).
