Michael Bull is Professor of Sound Studies at the University of Sussex. He has published widely in the field of Sound Studies. His single authored books include Sounding Out the City, Personal Stereos and the Management of Everyday Life (Berg 2000), Sound Moves, iPod Culture and Urban Experience (Routledge 2007). He has also published a four volume edited work on Sound Studies for Routledge (2013). Most recently he has co-edited the second edition of The Auditory Culture Reader with Professor Les Back (Bloomsbury 2016). He is the editor and joint founder of the Journal Senses and Society and the co-founder and editor (with Prof Veit Erlmann) of the Sound Studies Journal (Routledge).He is currently writing a book on sirens which will be one of the first publications in his new book series The Study of Sound (Bloomsbury).
