Léon Franzen is a trained Neuroscientist (University of Glasgow) with a background in corporate management and economics (Zeppelin University). He specialises in perceptual decision-making research with adults who are affected by learning difficulties in reading and writing commonly known as dyslexia. His PhD examined unisensory (visual) and multisensory (audiovisual) processing of individuals with dyslexia in the context of different type fonts. As an outspoken advocate for the strengths of individuals with dyslexia, he has frequently been engaging in knowledge translation and public engagement activities over the past couple of years.
Currently, as a Horizon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Lab for Sensory Research and Concordia Vision Labs as part of the Centre for Sensory Studies, he is exploring new visual marketing tools such as type fonts and modifications of product displays, which could facilitate information processing in adults with and without dyslexia. He aims to build the foundation for better information processing as the basis of independent consumer decisions.
His research also investigates how we can uncover different states of brand familiarity and product perception using sensory level measures such as pupillometry, galvanic skin response and Electroencephalography (EEG). One of his goals is to advance consumer research by developing models that help to reveal the unbiased state of cognitive level processes in consumers using physiological markers.
