Craig Farkash is a PhD student in the Social and Cultural Analysis Program at Concordia University. He holds a BA in Anthropology and Classics and an MA in Anthropology from the University of Alberta where he explored blues music, folklore, and urban mythmaking through an anthropological lens during which time he lived and worked in Belgrade, Serbia. Working under the supervision of Dr. David Howes (Anthropology) with co-supervision from Dr. Matthew Unger (Sociology), Craig is currently interested in exploring urban soundscapes. His proposed project seeks to combine methods from sensory anthropology, sound studies, and research-creation to examine cultural relationships to the urban soundscape among musicians and others in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta.
